conseil

Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco achieved significant progress across various fronts, paving the way for continuous and systematic steps towards political, economic, and social reforms, positioning Morocco as a unique exception in North Africa.
The Kingdom has ushered in a comprehensive development, fostering modernization and the strengthening of the rule of law, setting an example of stability, and solidifying Morocco's position internationally, regionally, and within Africa.
Structural reforms have been a cornerstone of Morocco's transformation over the past two decades. These reforms encompass political, constitutional, legislative, administrative, and social domains. Key areas of focus have included the revitalization of political life, the advancement of human rights, particularly women's empowerment, constitutional reforms, judicial reform, migration and migrant rights, poverty alleviation, and countering extremism and terrorism.
At the local level, Morocco has embraced advanced regionalization as a pillar of its domestic economic development model. Additionally, the proposal for autonomy in the southern region has garnered positive international appreciation, with support from key countries and organizations, including the United States, as a basis for resolving regional conflicts while upholding Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Morocco’s significant political reforms achieved under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI include:

1.    Constitution: In 2011, His Majesty King Mohammed VI introduced constitutional reforms aimed at decentralizing power and strengthening democratic institutions. The amended constitution expanded the powers to the Head of Government and the legislative branch.

2.    Electoral System: Morocco has implemented several electoral reforms to enhance the transparency and fairness of elections. These reforms include measures to ensure greater representation of political parties in the electoral process and promote the participation of women, youth, and Moroccans living abroad in politics.

3.    Political Parties: Efforts have been made to reform the political party system to make it more inclusive and representative. This includes measures to promote internal democracy within political parties and encourage the participation of youth and women in politics.

4.    Judiciary: Morocco has embarked on significant judicial reforms with the aim of bolstering the independence and efficacy of its judiciary. These reforms include a variety of measures, comprising (i) initiatives to enhance access to justice for all citizens, (ii) the clear separation of powers between the judicial, executive, and legislative branches, and (iii) the establishment of autonomous judicial bodies such as the Supreme Council for Judicial Power. This council, ran by elected judges, plays a crucial role in arbitrating judiciary matters, thereby ensuring the integrity and impartiality of the judicial process.

5.    Human Rights: Morocco has made significant strides in promoting human rights and civil liberties. This includes creating bodies to monitor human rights violations, the abolition of military courts for civilians, and the adoption of legislation to combat torture and protect freedom of expression.

6.    Decentralization of power: the Kingdom has embarked on a process of decentralization aimed at devolving power to local governments and promoting grassroots democracy. This includes the establishment of elected regional councils and the transfer of administrative and financial resources to local authorities.

7.    Women's Rights: Morocco has made efforts to promote gender equality and empower women in politics and society. This includes the adoption of laws to combat violence against women, promote women's participation in decision-making processes, and increase women's representation in elected bodies.
