Tourist Arrivals in Morocco Up 8% by End of September
A total of 9.5 million tourists visited Morocco in the first nine months of 2018, up 8% compared with the same period a year earlier, according to the Tourism Observatory. The number of foreign tourists increased by 14%, while the arrivals of Moroccans living abroad rose by 2%, the Observatory said. The increase affected tourists from several countries, including Italy (+ 14%), Germany (+ 10%), France (+ 7%) and the Netherlands (+ 5%), the source added. Regarding the number of overnight stays in licensed accommodations, they increased by 9% during the first nine months of 2018 (+ 13% for non-resident tourists and + 1% for resident ones). The tourist destinations of Marrakech and Agadir generated 60% of total overnight stays by the end of September, according to the Observatory.
