Ambassador Bouhlal visits Seattle

Ambassador Bouhlal visited Seattle from March 13 to 15th, 2013. In this occasion, he joined Mr. Abderrafia Zouitene, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Mr. John V Pricco, Vice President of Boeing, to preside over the delivery ceremony of the 50th Boeing 737 to RAM. This delivery represents a milestone in the partnership between the two companies dating back to the late 1960s.

The Ambassador had talks with several other officials from the Boeing Company and toured the Renton 737 Factory as well as the Boeing Factory in Everett that manufactures 77, 747 and 787 aircrafts.

It is worth recalling that, in 2001, Boeing joined a Joint-venture with RAM and Labinal to establish MATIS (Morocco Aero-Technical Interconnect Systems), a company specialized in manufacturing electrical wiring and bundles for aircrafts. In 2005, Boeing partnered with Royal Air Maroc to open Casa Aero, an important training center.

Since then, and in less than 10 years, the Moroccan aerospace industry has become among the most competitive emerging manufacturing base in the world, with more than 100 referenced companies established and about 10 000 employees exporting for about a billion dollars.

Ambassador Bouhlal also met with the leaders of business organizations and discussed with them the perspectives of economic cooperation between Morocco and the business community from the State of Washington.

He also met with the Moroccan engineers in the Everett plant as well as the members of the Moroccan community in Seattle.
