Morocco honored at the U.S Congress for its efforts in support of the United Nations' peacekeeping operations .

On May 21, 2014, Morocco was honored in Washington, during a ceremony held at the U.S Congress celebrating the International Day of Peacekeepers. On this occasion, Mr. Bouhlal received on behalf of Morocco, an award recognizing the important contribution of the Kingdom to the UN peacekeeping operations in Africa.

The ceremony was organized at the initiative of the organization "Better World Campaign" and the United Nations Association - USA. The event was marked by the participation of several members of Congress, the Deputy Assistant Secretary in charge of international organizations, Victoria Holt, the Senior Advisor to the United Nations' Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), as well as several representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the United States.

In the opening remarks, the Executive Director of "Better World Campaign," Peter Yeo, commended the diligent efforts made by Morocco as part of the UN-led peacekeeping operations, particularly in the Ivory Coast and Congo, noting that the Moroccan soldiers contribute to the preservation of peace and security and the protection of civilian populations in these African countries.
