Morocco honored at the U.S. Congress for its efforts in support of United Nations' peacekeeping operations.

The U.S. Congress, in cooperation with the American Foundation "Foundation of the United Nations" organized on May 22, a reception in honor of countries participating in peacekeeping operations within the United Nations.

This ceremony was attended by Congressman Jim McDermott (D-Washington State), Mr. Edmond Mulet, Assistant Secretary General of the UN for peacekeeping, Mrs. Kathy Calvin, President of the UN Foundation as well as several members of the diplomatic missions that are involved and contributing to the UN Peacekeeping operations.

During different allocutions, a tribute was paid to the efforts concluded by the United Nations and participating operations peacekeeping countries which have brought an end not only to armed conflicts, but also to political and humanitarian crises.

In appreciation of the many contributions the Kingdom of Morocco has provided in terms of peacekeeping operations, Mr. Mulet and Mrs. Calvin gifted the Ambassador of His Majesty the King, Mr. Rachad Bouhlal, a trophy of recognition and appreciation for the tremendous and tireless efforts made by our country in this field.

On this occasion, Mr. Mulet praised Morocco's contribution that is highly appreciated by the international community, while Mrs. Calvin presented figures on the Moroccan Missions and countries where it has deployed its armed forces and police.
