Reception to Delaware University Students

A group of 17 students and their professors from the Delaware University were received by Ambassador Rachad Bouhlal in a reception on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 at his residence, following their study tour in Morocco during the whole month of January 2013.

Full of enthusiasm and still excited about their experience, these young men and women spared no efforts to detail their unforgettable memories from their first trip to Morocco, a country unkown to them just few weeks before. They all talked about the variety of scenery and landscape of the Kingdom as well as the legendary hospitality of the Moroccan people.

They related stories about visits to the imperial cities of Rabat, Meknes, Fez and Marrakech where they met local professors and university students, were received by local and regional authorities, and had access, for example, to a family court to witness the actual everyday life of the population. They also visited the touristic town of Essaouira.

However, the breath-taking experience for them remains their excursion to Merzouga, where they could ride camels, spend the night in a berber tent at the bottom of the dunes, under the stars in a Berber tent (khaima), and witness the impressive sunrise in the desert.
