Visit of Mr. Youssef Amrani, Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to Washington, December 3-4, 2012

Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Youssef Amrani made a visit to Washington, DC from 3 to 4 December 2012 and met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Beth Jones and National Security Council Senior Director, for the Middle East and North Africa, M. Steve Simon.

During these meetings, the officials reviewed the state of the bilateral relations between Morocco and the United States in light of the strategic dialogue that was formalized between the two countries with the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding, on September 13, 2012.

Minister Amrani also discussed with the US officials the situation in Mali and the Sahel and also the situation in Syria, on the eve of the meeting of the "Friends of Syria", in Marrakech (Morocco) on December 12, 2012.

During this visit, Mr. Amrani was invited by the Atlantic Council to talk at a round table on Morocco and its regional leadership. Minister Amrani was the guest of a number of key US media networks(CNN, NPR and the Washington Post).

On December 4th, Mr. Amrani took part to the US-Morocco Business Development Conference during which he notably co-chaired along with Assistant Secretary of State Jose Fernandez the closing session.
